When installing a light on the ceiling, you have to install electrical boxes for every one of the fixtures. This is not only inconvenient, but also can be quite costly. In fact, installing each fixture and electrical box can cost a couple hundred dollars.
Another disadvantage is that once the fixtures are installed, they are fixed. This means that if you decide at any point that you want to redo the layout of your lighting, you will have to move and remount all of the electrical boxes.
However, with LED rail lighting, all you have to do is simply loosen the fixture and move it along the rail to the desired position. This lighting solution is best in rooms where you are not able to run wiring through an inaccessible ceiling.
