For many people, the eclipse of 2017 was one of the most interesting experiences they had when it comes to interacting with the solar system. But, it is far from the last one to occur in our lifetime. The total solar eclipse 2024 is set to be an impressive experience in itself and well worth getting ready for if you are interested in space. But, what should you know about this event?

What You Can Expect

The total solar eclipse of 2024 will happen on April 8th of that year. As a total solar eclipse, the moon will pass in between Earth and the sun during a portion of the day. As the Earth moves across the sun’s path, it will create complete darkness for those who are in the path of its movement. For most people in North America, this solar eclipse will be visible in at least some form. For those who are interested in viewing it, it will primarily run from the southern portion of the country near Texas up and towards the east through to Maine. This creates a large group of people who will be able to watch the sky go from a normal sunny day to a near or full blackout condition for just a few seconds.

It is important to be ready for this day. Leading up to previous solar eclipses, it was difficult to have enough solar eclipse sunglasses available to provide individuals with the ability to look at the sun. However, with ample warning and time to prepare, schools, libraries, governments, and everyday individuals will be able to purchase these sunglasses in advance of the day. The total solar eclipse 2024 will be an impressive event that no one will want to miss out on.
