When the auto air conditioning starts to experience trouble, it can be a very frustrating situation to deal with. Here are some troubleshooting tips to try and identify the issue.
* First, start the car and turn the air conditioner on full-blast. Feel the air that is coming out to gauge the temperature. If the air coming forth feels warm to cool, but not quite cold enough, there may be an issue with the air flow. The air filter in the cabin may need to be replaced or there may be an electrical issue if the cooling fans are not running.
* Locate the air conditioner compressor and check to see if the center pulley is moving. When the compressor is working properly, the clutch will engage. If the clutch does not engage, the compressor will need to replaced.
* Many times, the problem with auto air conditioning is the air conditioner simply needs to have its refrigerant refilled. Make certain to check the refrigerant is the correct type for the vehicle. The easiest way to check this is to know the year of the vehicle. Any vehicle made after 1995 will use R134a refrigerant. Any vehicle made before 1995 uses R12 refrigerant. R12 absolutely cannot be changed by anybody who is unlicensed to do it.
* To refill with R134a refrigerant, simply locate the low-side service port on the air conditioner. Clean the port of debris and grime with a rag and attach the charging hose to the low-side port. Turn the valve until the refrigerant can is punctured. Make sure to hold the can in an upright position throughout the entire process. Failure to do this will result in the refrigerant not properly filling the air conditioner. Shake the can occasionally during the procedure.
* Leaks are easy to detect by using a leak detection kit. They contain dyes which help to immediately identify where the leak is coming from.
If the compressor needs complete replacement or if there a number of leaks within the air conditioning system itself, the vehicle will definitely need to be taken to a professional repair shop such as the one found at website. You can also connect them on Facebook.
