If you want to increase the size of your breasts, then you want to get implants. This procedure is also called augmentation. Before you have surgery, here are a few steps of the process to consider so that you make the best decision for your body and your health.
Anesthesia
When you arrive at the hospital or medical facility for breast implants in Chicago, you’ll be administered medications so that you’re asleep during surgery. General anesthesia is a common option, but you could also choose intravenous sedation as you’ll usually wake up faster from the medications used.
Incisions
When you have surgery for breast implants in Chicago, the incisions are made so that they are as discreet as possible. They can be made near the areola, underneath the breasts, or under the armpit. The type of breast implant will usually be a factor when determining the type of incision as well as the size of the implants.
Placement
The implants are usually inserted through a pocket that’s made from the incision. They can be placed behind the pectoral muscles or behind the tissue of each breast. Again, the placement will usually be determined based on the kind of implant that you get, such as saline or silicone, and the size of the implant. Once the implants are placed, the incisions are closed. In a few weeks, the swelling usually goes down, allowing you to see your new size and shape. Keep in mind that you should avoid lifting heavy objects after surgery and take any antibiotics that are prescribed.
