Main Massage Modalities at Massage Therapy School in Arizona

1. Swedish Massage: Considered the most basic form of massage therapy, you will spend five weeks learning the basic strokes to a Swedish massage. The circulatory system is affected by utilizing a combination of strokes to both relax and balance the client.

2. Reflexology: Seven thousand nerves are stimulated by touching the client’s feet during reflexology, promoting healing and relaxation. By reducing the amount of stress in the body, reflexology is beneficial for pain reduction, increased blood flow, impacting blood pressure levels, and many others.

3. Shiatsu: Shiatsu influences and improves the body’s “energy”, or qi, with the use of palm and finger pressure. Chinese medicine is based on the principle that illness is cause by imbalances in our natural energy flow.

4. Connective Tissue Massage: Massaging the connective tissue in the body is used by massage therapists to provide pain relief from degenerative diseases, improve posture, and reduce stress. It works by realigning and balancing the myofascial structure of the body.

5. Sports Massage & Injury Rehabilitation: Originally designed to assist athletes with their performance, sports massage focuses on a specific area of the body. Many professional athletes receive sports massage on a regular basis, both to treat and prevent injuries during training and competition. It is beneficial for restricted range of motion, chronic pain, and injuries to muscles and tendons.

6. Neuromuscular Therapy: This technique applies direct pressure to the myofascial of the body in a series of treatments, releasing contracted muscles and reducing pain.
