Research shows that kids who are active for at least 30 minutes a day either outside or even in kid’s movement classes in Philadelphia, tend to be healthier, both mentally and physically. The thing is that you shouldn’t expect your kids to be active if all you do is sit on the couch and watch TV all day or at night after you get home. It is important to lead by example with children. What they see you do, they will want to do as well. With that being said, read on below for a few of the top ways you can get active with your kids.

Tip Number One

If you live close enough, instead of jumping in the car in the mornings, walk or ride your bikes to the school with your children. Not only are you getting active with them, but you are also looking out for the environment as well, so it’s a win-win situation.

Tip Number Two

Remember the days of climbing trees and building tree houses? Why not bring those days back with your own children? Get outside and help them build a treehouse or a den. Better yet, encourage them to climb a few trees, with your close supervision of course.

Tip Number Three

Find the time on the weekends to do one outdoor activity with your child. Whether it’s playing Frisbee or a rounding game of one on one in basketball, not only will you be active with your little one, you will be spending quality time together as well.

These are just a few of the ways that you can get active with your children. Don’t forget to sign them up for movement classes at the Nest in Chestnut Hill for the times when it’s raining, or you just can’t be active or just to let them have a little fun!
