Being able to see a solar eclipse is something a lot of people would like to have the opportunity to do, but do not have much information on when they could see one, the time of day it is, or if they need supplies or not to see the eclipse. There is much information available about solar eclipses and when they will occur. It is also important to know that having the right kind of eclipse eye protection is crucial to the process.

Eclipse Season

Did you know there was an eclipse season? Just like the seasons experienced annually, or hurricane season, or the rainy season, they all move along a cycle and those cycles are experienced here on Earth. For eclipses, the Sun and the Moon come into to perfect or almost spot on alignment twice a year. The time in between these two alignments is considered the Eclipse Season. Only a couple of times are the solar eclipses actually visible to some people during eclipse season. During each eclipse season there will be at least one solar eclipse and one lunar eclipse. It is the solar you need the eclipse eye protection for.

Difference in Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse

Solar and lunar eclipses are very similar is that one of the three celestial objects closest to Earth is eclipsing the light of another one of the objects by passing in between the two, but that is about where the similarities end. A solar eclipse is extremely rarer than a lunar eclipse. If it wasn’t for the way the Moon and Earth are tilted, and they were in more alignment, lunar eclipses would happen every full moon. Whenever a lunar eclipse occurs, all long as the sky is clear wherever you are, you can see the lunar eclipse, where as a solar eclipse can only be seen based on where you are located on Earth, and they only happen for a very short amount of time. One of the most important differences is that you can enjoy looking at a lunar eclipse with the naked eye, but attempting to look at a solar eclipse without some type of eye protection can cause serious damage to your eyes. Having a pair of custom glasses is exactly the eclipse eye protection that is needed.
