Hand washing basins are handy and make it easier for you and your family to develop healthy hand washing habits. However, while these sinks help keep the dirt off your hands, you’ll have to make sure you keep these basins clean and sanitized as well.

Bacteria and Germs
When you use these basins, you aren’t just washing garden variety dirt and grit off your palms. If you held any harmful chemicals or handled raw food, you could have a lot of germs and bacteria, says Food Safety Site. And using a handy wash basin means you could be leaving traces of those germs or bacteria behind in the sink. That’s why it’s crucial that you know how to keep your basin spotless and germ-free. Otherwise, you could risk spreading infection around.

Dispose of waste water
Make sure you empty out the waste water tank whenever it’s full. You can throw the water into a concrete floor drain. Remember to buy a portable sink that comes with an alarm whenever the tank is full. That should save you from having to check if the tank is full from time to time, which is much more efficient. This way, you also won’t have to deal with an overflow.

Sink cleanup
Just scrub the sink. Any dirt or signs of rust, water spots or stains should be eliminated. And take care of any soap or food deposits you find as well. Any cleaning solution fit for sinks will do.

Clear the drain
Keep the drain clear of any deposits that could clog it up by mixing baking soda with salt and cream of tartar. Pour that mixture down the train every few weeks and you won’t have to worry about clogged sink drains again. Have white spots? Take care of those by soaking your paper towel in vinegar and wrapping it around the affected areas.
